Who are we?
Established as a charity in 2015, The Meeting Room is a registered charity supporting vulnerable people in the Mole Valley and Epsom areas who are experiencing crisis or are in need. We stand alongside those facing the most difficult moments in their lives, offering practical help and assistance, and longer term, on-going consistent support when it is needed most.
We work with adults of all ages and backgrounds who are dealing with homelessness, poverty, mental or physical health challenges, relationship breakdown, isolation, or issues with alcohol or drugs. Our focus is on responding quickly to urgent need and helping people move from instability and risk towards safety, stability and hope.

The Meeting Room is often the first port of call for the homeless, those struggling with poverty or with addictions and those for whom social exclusion and loneliness is an everyday reality.
I walked in and Graham asked me if I was thirsty or hungry. After sitting me down with a drink, hot lunch and chatting to me Graham made some phone calls and within 1 hour of me arriving had secured a place for me at the hostel in Leatherhead.

Working with Partners in our Local Community

Over the years, through sustained hard work and networking, we have built strong and valued partnerships with a wide range of local organisations and businesses.

These relationships make a real difference to the people we support in crisis and reflect the strength of our local community.

We are incredibly grateful to Cook in Ashtead High Street, who generously provide 40 frozen meals every two weeks, and to Marks & Spencer in Ashtead, Sainsbury’s in Leatherhead, Waitrose in Dorking and Tesco in Leatherhead for supplying much-needed food and essentials.

We have also established connections through attending local craft fairs and community events, and we are always touched by visits from therapy dogs, which bring comfort and joy to our clients.

Together, these partnerships help us provide consistent, compassionate support to those who need it most.
Fundraising

We are delighted to have been chosen as Charity Partner of the Year by Squire’s Garden Centres in Cobham for 2025-26.
Throughout the year, the partnership will include a range of in-store events and fundraising activities designed to raise both vital funds and awareness of our work within the local community.

What do we do?
We provide wide-ranging support through our lunchtime drop-in centres in Leatherhead, Epsom and Ashtead, offering a safe and welcoming space for people facing homelessness, poverty, issues with mental or physical ill health, addiction, domestic abuse, relationship breakdown or social isolation.
Many who come to us have no support network and arrive in urgent need of help. We provide hot meals, essential supplies and immediate one-to-one intervention, helping people reach safety and stabilise situations that may have become overwhelming or dangerous.
Our experienced team works closely with each person to address critical issues such as rough sleeping or imminent eviction, lack of income or benefits, severe debt, unemployment, and urgent health concerns.
We work with external agencies where appropriate, support clients to attend medical appointments, and provide counselling and wellbeing activities that help rebuild confidence and resilience.
Our focus is always on helping people move out of crisis and towards lasting stability
“The Meeting Room helped me get out of a dark place. I’ve met friends who understand what it is like. I am diabetic so the lunches have helped me keep healthy. The opportunity of counselling has given me the space and opportunity to talk to a professional and move forward.”
Become
a volunteer!
We are always looking for volunteers to assist us with all our activities. If you are interested in helping with cooking, assisting our staff at the lunchtime drop-ins or any other capacity, please contact us.
All volunteer roles can be flexible, depending on how much time you have available. You will be given the necessary training and on-going support.
For more information and to find out if this could be a good fit for you, contact us at volunteer@themeetingroom.org.uk.
