Who are we?
The Meeting Room is a registered charity operating in the Mole Valley and Epsom areas. The charity was founded in 2014 by Graham Peddie MBE, who was a leading advocate for assisting the most vulnerable people in our community.
Our clients are of all backgrounds and ages and our focus is to provide meaningful support to those with a wide variety of issues including homelessness, poverty, physical or mental health difficulties, breakdown of relationships, social exclusion and loneliness and issues with alcohol or drugs.

The Meeting Room is often the first port of call for the homeless, those struggling with poverty or with addictions and those for whom social exclusion and loneliness is an everyday reality.
I walked in and Graham asked me if I was thirsty or hungry. After sitting me down with a drink, hot lunch and chatting to me Graham made some phone calls and within 1 hour of me arriving had secured a place for me at the hostel in Leatherhead.

Working with Partners in our Local Community

We love working with organisations and businesses in our local community. So, we want to give an enormous thank you to 'Cook' in Ashtead High Street and to Ross who runs the shop there. They are supplying us with 40 delicious frozen meals every two weeks, and we and our clients are so very grateful for their support.

And thanks so much to our other community partners, including Mark's & Spencer in Ashtead and Sainsbury's in Leatherhead for providing us with much needed food items for our clients.

Calling All Volunteers!

If you are passionate about your community, have an interest in helping vulnerable people and would love to be part of a great team, why not become a volunteer with The Meeting Room.
Right now, we need help with...

Client Support: working alongside our staff, our client support volunteers assist in providing various types of practical help in the areas of housing, benefits, health and other matters at our lunchtime drop-ins sites in Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom.

Cooking & serving meals: cooking a nourishing meal for our clients in your own kitchen, and serving on-site at our drop-ins.

Kitchen duties: making tea and coffee, washing up and generally helping while chatting to our clients. A great way to start as a volunteer!

Admin & Social Media: perhaps working from home suits you better, so please ask how you could support us in this way.

All volunteer roles can be flexible, depending on how much time you have available. You will be given the necessary training and on-going support. For more information, email us at volunteer@themeetingroom.org.uk or click on the link below - go on give it a try!

We run lunchtime time drop-in centres in Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom. Our aim is to provide a safe and welcoming environment, a hot meal and the opportunity to talk to our trained staff about whatever issues our clients are facing.
Many of our clients do not have a support network of friends and family to help them overcome the challenges in their daily lives.
Our highly skilled and experienced staff can provide advice and guidance in areas such as benefits, finance, work, accommodation, personal or health issues and we can signpost them to other agencies if needed.
We also assist clients with attending medical appointments. In addition, with mental health & well-being in mind, we have a comprehensive program of activities including day trips and residential outings to build confidence and self-esteem.
What do we do?
“The Meeting Room helped me get out of a dark place. I’ve met friends who understand what it is like. I am diabetic so the lunches have helped me keep healthy. The opportunity of counselling has given me the space and opportunity to talk to a professional and move forward.”
Become
a volunteer!
We are always looking for volunteers to assist us with all our activities. If you are interested in helping with cooking, assisting our staff at the lunchtime drop-ins or any other capacity, please contact us.
